The California Coastline is stunning. Most people imagine palm trees and sandy beaches, but Big Sur, stretching from Monterey all the way down to San Luis Obispo, may more closely match what you'd imagine the Welsh coastline to look like. The road winds itself along ragged cliffs, and bright sunlight and aquamarine waters more often than not give way to clinging mist. The land here hasn't been tamed yet, and the hills meet the ocean with rough abandon and the clash of seaspray on rock. The tangy ocean air, cold misty wind and cry of a lone seagull are peaceful and free.
Ice plants flourish in the saline coastal environment.
A lighthouse shines through the mist.
